People are normally getting visas. (Open tickets or refundable airline tickets are recommendable).
New system: (Example) You go on Monday for ASC Appointment (finger print and photograph) which normally is taking about half an hour time, then you go on Tuesday for your US Consulate Interview, this is normally done in 2-4 hrs, then we pick up your passport at DHL Office around 5:00 pm.

You must make an appointment with the ASC Department (this is finger prints and photograph Service Center) a day before your US Consulate Appointment Interview. Example: ASC appointment on Monday, US Consulate Interview on Tuesday.

IMPORTANT: Because of new changes and rules, you must read all info given to you on your appointment letter. Now DS-160 FORMS must be filled up on line. You must print out DS-160 CONFIRMATION sheet. (DS-156, 157 and 158 forms are not required any more). Photographs are not required any more.
On the month of January 2 applicants went from F1-H1 and got H1B visa succesfully. (F1-H1 is normally not given in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico at this time). 04-10-09

Update, INFORMATION, Important. 11-10-08.
Mexico, stoped issueing mexican permits since last year. (Only permanent residents can apply for a visitor's permit at the borders). You can apply for a mexican visa at a local Mexican Consulate in US.
(This info is also on your appointment letter)
Why, it is recommendable to apply for a MEXICAN VISA while you attend any US Consulate in Mexico.
1. In case something goes wrong and you have to wait in Mexico for more time.
2. In case you are denied or rejected and they have cancelled your US visa, and you can not re-enter US.
3. In case you have to leave back home from the country of Mexico.
To apply for a Mexican Visa, you need to appear in person at a Local Mexican Consulate in US. (9:00 - 11:00 am).
Normally, they will give you visa on the same or 2nd day. You need to print and fill up an application and take it to them along with appropriate documents. You'll find this info on: http://www.sre.gob.mx/elpaso
Then click on VISAS from left side panel. Then click Visit US Consulate. Then click HERE from #1, where it says Print the Visa Application.
Because of a new rule from the Mexican Authorities, now you only need to pay $36 dlls, as a Tourist Visa. You do not need to get an FM3, business visa. Unless you are traveling inside Mexico for business.
If your Local Mexican Consulate is not familiar with this new rule, please ask them to call the Mexican Consulate in El Paso, TX for verification at (915) 533-3644 or (915) 533-3645 ext. 242.

There are 3 ways , how to make an appointment with the U.S. Consulate in Cd. Juarez, Mexico.
1. Call 1-900-476-1212. About $ 1.25 U.S. Dlls. per minute charged to your phone bill. ( Not in service, 04-13-09.)
2. Call 1-800-919-1754. About $ 7.00 U.S. Dlls. per call payable by Visa or Mastercard. (Try this number, and press #2 for more info).
